Grab Bag

I have nothing new to report right now.  I am waiting for some knitpicks yarn that I ordered to come in.   I am planning on making MYSELF (not said in any nasty way, just wanting a little love for me) the Forest Canopy Shoulder Shawl.  I plan on making it WAY bigger then shoulder size.  I envision it in yummy fall colors.  OK, I saw it on Teri's site and had to have it in the same color.  Knitpicks Memories sock yarn in Redwood forest.  Can't wait for that. 

And of couse we have SOCKTOBERFEST coming up.  I can't wait for that either.  I need to be motivated to knit four pairs of socks.  expecially with all the other projects I want to finish or start.  I am hoping to have an update with pictures of all that this weekend.

Babies in hats...Part two

We went to meet the newest addtion to the family today.  Now my sister in law has two beautiful girls.  And now those two beautiful girls have hats!!

That's (CK) in the purple hat, and (ME) in the cupcake hat.   Aren't they cute?

I really think they like them.  Don't you?

Oh well, at least I got a couple of pictures in before they decided that they didn't like them.  It's good to see something you made being worn.  These are the first things I have made that I have seen on the person I made them for.  The other baby hats I made I haven't seen yet.  Maybe with the cold weather coming that will change.

Ok, so just one baby and just one hat.  But I plan to add more this weekend.  I have two cute hats to go on two cute heads on Sunday.  Stay tuned for those pictures.

      

                            I made this hat for  (C) earlier this summer.  I didn't get the chance to see her until this past Saturday.  She actually kept the hat on long enough to get some pictures.  Isn't she cute?  The pattern is from Knitting at Knoon.  I have to make more of these too!  I also made a baby hat and a cupcake hat.  I will hopefully have pictures of them after the weekend.

That's how it feels..Like I should be standing on the bow of a great big ship, screaming into the wind, "I'm done, it's finished, It's wonderful"!!!!!!!!

The Driftwood Victorian Shoulder Shawl

But wait a minute...That looks nothing like the color that we started with.  Yes, I know.  Well, you see, that color kinda went bad.  I had to rip back and start over so many times, I felted it a bit.  And then about 9 out of 11 repeats in....it broke.  I cried.  I cried to hubby.  He said buy more.  I did.  Tada!!

Would I knit this again?  Yes, but...I would buy two skeins of yarn and do a lot more repeats.  When they say shoulder shawl, they mean shoulder shawl.  It is wonderfully soft and light, and it floats around you.  Just dreamy.  But small.  I was hoping to block it bigger then the 48" by 20" but I got exactly that.

Needles: size 4 (called for three, but four got me gauge) 32" addi circulars

Drifting.....

This is the Driftwood Victorian Shoulder Shawl from Badcat designs.  I started this just before vacation.  Unfortunatly my gauge was off and I had to rip back and start over.  It has been slow going since I have had to tink back a row or two here and there.  I just can't seem to pick up dropped stitches on this one.  I think it is because all of the yarn overs obscure the dropped stitches.  I think it is going to be great!  I hope anyway.  It supposedly takes just one skein of the Jade Sapphire 2 ply Cashmere.  Grace at loop had one to show and she swears that

A: It really does only take one skein.  You just wet block the heck out of it.  And

B: I CAN knit it.  Really I can, so just do it.  Ok Grace, I am trying.

And if that dip in the lace pool wasn't enough....Look at what I got myself set up for.  I just couldn't help myself.  Everyone else it doing it..Why not me?  BTW, that's Knitpicks alpaca cloud in smoke.

OHIO!!!!

So..Back from Ohio.  We had a great trip.  Here are the highlights:

So there you have it...The four day fun filled Ohio trip in pictures.  The tunnels, the welcome, the amusment park, the fish in the lake, Stitch Piece and Purl, The Barn,  hanging with Heidi and A.J and U.H., the fire dept.,  and last but not least A&W!!!  The final picture is of the kids with A.J and U.H. 

Little Red Wagon

Yeah, I know, I haven't blogged in a while.  I really need to be more consistent.  I guess when you get a new blog up and running you should post so people will stop by.  (Scroll down, their are pictures, I promise)

My camera has pretty much given up the ghost.  Nine times out of ten, it refuses to focus.  I am ordering a new one as soon as I am done here.

In the meantime.  I don't have any FO's to show.  I am working on Ohio socks since we will be heading that way in a few weeks time.  I have one almost done.  They are for my Uncle. They are black and grey.  Black and Grey, Grey and Black.  I think I am going color blind.  They are Lorna's Laces, pin stripe.  I am not thrilled with how they are coming out color wise.  But that could be because I usually deal with color.

Speaking of color...How about some?  I picked up some Claudia Handpainted yarn last weekend and couldn't stand it any longer.  I wound up a skein and cast on for a pair of socks for me.  It's the  Red Wagon color, though I am not sure why.  I think watermelon crawl, or Raspberry Limeade would fit the colors better then red wagon. 

And guess what?!!  When I went out front to take this picture there was a surprise on the door step!  It was my Rowan Handknit cotton yarn all the way from England!!!  It must have gotten dropped off after the regular mail and we missed it.  Fortunately, it was well wrapped because it POURED yesterday.  But inside, my wonderful yarn was safe and dry.  I am going to make some of the bibs from One Skein with it.

Well, I guess that is it for now.  I will try to do better this coming week.  I am hoping for some FO's to show you.  I do have a cute sunhat that I just need to block and then that pic will be up.  As soon as I get the new camera, I will do my R list for Stephanie.  Thanks for stopping by.  If you would, please comment so I know someone is reading!

Nope, nothing new here today.  Just some gratuitous pics of my first sock.  Yeah, just one, but it is a beauty.  I will be posting either tomorrow or on Saturday.  I got my LETTER from Stephanie and will be completing that this weekend too!  Just have to get the pics together for it.  Happy Thursday!  Tomorrow will be TGIF!!!!!
